FAQs

1) How much do I pay for class and membership? - Class fees are fixed at £7 per class, pay as you go (class runs for at least an hour and a half). There are no annual membership or grading fees. Fees are paid on arrival before the start of each class.

2)
What should I wear? - Just come in something that does not restrict your movement (ideally a T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms). Class T Shirts are available at £12 each. In terms of footwear, trainers are best.

3)
Do I have to be fit? - No. You should however be healthy to participate in any physical exercise (if you are in any doubt you should consult your doctor before training). You do not have to be fit to start Wing Chun, but as you progress your fitness will improve.

4)
Are there any age restrictions? - Yes. We accept anyone from age 16 years and upwards.

5)
Is this class suitable for women? - Yes. It is believed that Wing Chun was invented by a woman. It is therefore not necessary for a practitioner to have great strength or brute force to learn or use Wing Chun so it is ideal for women.

6)
Do I need any previous Martial Art experience? - No. Experience is always beneficial but it is not necessary for you to have previous experience, and is sometimes better if you don't - as you will not have any habits that you may have to break at a later stage.

7) What is the class format? - We have a basic stretch and light warm up (10-15 mins only). Then we go through forms and basic solo drills followed by partner drills (static & mobile). We then apply the drills in Chi Sau (Sticking Hands) and finish with Free Chi Sau (Sticking Hands). On some sessions we may do sparring and padwork.

8)
Do you have gradings and/or belts? - No. We do however follow a syllabus and one's progress is checked against this.

9)
